Overview
Voltaire InfiniBand Enterprise Database Solutions enable IT managers and system integrators to rapidly deploy InfiniBand-powered Oracle database clusters. Through its high speed, low latency capabilities, the solution allows IT managers to move their database applications from expensive high-end servers to low cost commodity server clusters.

Using Voltaire, IT managers can dramatically improve application-level performance of clustered databases. In addition, Voltaire boosts database transaction query speeds by more than 50%, reducing the time needed to perform complex calculations. Scalability
The Voltaire InfiniBand Enterprise Database Solution offers high levels of scalability. As soon as more computing power is needed, additional servers can be added while the system is running. New servers are automatically detected, allocated with addresses and then join the pool of servers to which traffic is load balanced.

High Availability
The Voltaire InfiniBand Database Solution delivers the reliability and availability characteristics that are required in mission-critical enterprise applications, including redundant components such as power supplies, Virtual Lane dedicated for heartbeat assurance, and more. It features system pooling, a unique capability that protects applications from failures at a port, module or the system level. System pooling enables multiple switch routers to dynamically distribute and balance routing and switching services among them. System pooling provides hierarchical redundancy and enables the fabric to deliver continuous service to the servers and storage systems.
Manageability
The Voltaire InfiniBand Database solution includes a rich set of management tools that incorporate device management, fabric management and service level management. Management interfaces include a web-based GUI, Command Line Interface (CLI) and SNMP.
Fabric management is provided as a plug-in to Oracle Enterprise Manager. Grid Control enables the user to incorporate visibility and alerts of the cluster I/O health and performance into the overall cluster management software provided by Oracle.
Integration with Your Existing Oracle Infrastructure
The Voltaire InfiniBand Enterprise Database Solution works with standard Oracle 9i/10g/11g clusters, as well as Linux and Windows operating systems. The solution requires no changes to the existing application, operating system or server hardware. InfiniBand database clusters can be easily deployed and integrated with customers' existing infrastructure through the use of Voltaire Router Modules for connectivity with Fibre Channel SANs and IP networks.
