HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share (HP SFS)

HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share (HP SFS) solves the I/O bottleneck typically found on Linux clusters requiring scalable storage. Using SFS20 disk arrays, HP SFS provides industry-leading price/performance across many terabytes of highly reliable, high-bandwidth storage.

HP SFS is a powerful file server that gives users of Linux clusters scalable storage that is easy to use and easy to administer. The HP StorageWorks SFS20 disk arrays, consisting of a large number of low-cost, off-the-shelf RAID arrays, deliver exceptional price/performance. HP SFS shares bandwidth by distributing files in parallel across Linux clusters of industry-standard server and storage components.

The combination of HP SFS and Voltaire's InfiniBand-based Grid Backbone™ solutions delivers unparalled performance on both the clients and storage servers. Using the solution, hundreds and thousands of nodes can rely on a single file system global name space. This is field proven. The U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD) 10 teraflop HP supercomputer at the Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC) Major Shared Resource Center (MSRC) based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio uses Voltaire Grid Director™ ISR 9288 switches for the high performance fabric for a 2,200 CPU (1,100-node) system on a single global name space.

"This customer deployment is yet another proof point that cluster technologies with InfiniBand interconnect truly deliver against the demands of supercomputing in real world, mission-critical environments. Voltaire’s 288 port switch is a critical component of the HP Cluster Platform because it provides exceptional performance and manageability for large, scale out compute environments."
