Customer Testimonials

SGX is investing in the most advanced trading technology to ensure that our customers enjoy ultra-fast trading and the best access to Asia. We are delighted to be leveraging on the low-latency characteristics of Voltaire’s InfiniBand switches and software to ensure the success of this initiative.

Bob Caisley, Chief Information Officer
Singapore Exchange (SGX)

We have been very impressed by how well Voltaire’s VMA software has operated for us in the development and testing of SGX’s new trading platform. Voltaire’s VMA software provided most of the latency improvement without requiring any changes to the application. With this solution, we are able to fully utilize the performance benefits of InfiniBand.

We selected Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Real Applications Clusters with Voltaire InfiniBand with the intent to consolidate many of our service databases and use just one platform to launch new value-added services to our customers. Not only have we saved money by reducing the number of servers in our data center, but we now have a much more utilized, highly available and flexible system that will allow us to scale to meet future requirements. Using Voltaire InfiniBand for the solution’s I/O fabric is a key factor in the improved scalability and cost reduction enabled by moving to an Oracle Real Application Cluster environment. Voltaire InfiniBand also supplied the high bandwidth and low latency we needed to make applications migration run smoothly.

We are approaching our new data center design with fresh thinking and innovative ways to maximize space and cost to deliver the lowest latency and best performance to our customers. Voltaire’s scale-out approach to Ethernet fabrics is unique and very well-aligned with the scalable infrastructure we will deploy in our next generation global data centers.

We are pleased to partner with Voltaire on this innovative facility that marries research with industry and selected them based on their expertise at providing solutions to the research and development organizations at many of the world’s leading automotive companies. We’re extremely impressed with the quality and performance of the Voltaire switches. They have been an important factor in the success of our mission to serve the automotive, aviation, and energy industries.

Our mandate is to speed up services wherever possible without increasing the budget. Using Voltaire InfiniBand in our large Oracle Database environment has enabled us to scale-out with inexpensive industry standard hardware to achieve more transactions per second than we've seen before on any other system. The low latency, high throughput, and low CPU usage of the Voltaire switch gives us stable performance even during times of heavy loads. We were pleasantly surprised to find that Voltaire InfiniBand really is 'plug and play' and was easy to install, configure and use. Looking ahead, we intend to use InfiniBand wherever possible to improve application performance and lower infrastructure costs at Postbank.

As a leading provider of customer management services and the creator of Germany’s most successful multi-partner loyalty program, we maintain very large databases and their scalability and reliability is critical to our success. Using Voltaire InfiniBand in our large Oracle environment has enabled us to improve database performance while using inexpensive industry standard hardware to lower our cost of computing.

Using a Voltaire unified fabric has increased system performance with five times the storage throughput compared to legacy implementations. Removing the communication bottlenecks has allowed us to use a highly-available VMware solution to facilitate the high-frequency communications on our North American financial market data network. This produced a 50% reduction in power and cooling costs, while providing greater resiliency and much faster customer provisioning.

Architecting and deploying a new scale of supercomputer is a tremendous accomplishment. One of the pleasant surprises was the stability of the system as it scaled up in size. The incredible amount of compute power harnessed by this machine will further the country’s national security initiatives and aid in new scientific discoveries.

Andy White, Roadrunner Project Director
Los Alamos National Laboratory

To capitalize on this new level of compute power, we implemented a dual-rail, non-blocking fabric that can support throughput up to 80 Gb/s per node, employing two Voltaire 40 Gb/s InfiniBand connections on each node. Since GPUs provide extremely high floating-point capabilities as well as memory bandwidth, Voltaire’s high-speed InfiniBand fabric is needed to achieve the highest throughput and lowest latency possible, in order to sustain performance in large-scale parallel workloads involving thousands of GPUs.

With Voltaire FCA, the IMB Allreduce & Barrier benchmarks ran seven times faster on a 512 core portion of our Intel Xeon E5520 based cluster. We are extremely proud to be the first customer to run Voltaire FCA in a large environment, and expect it to help us increase the efficiency and productivity of our research clusters by orders of magnitude.

Niclas Andersson, Technical Director
National Supercomputer Centre in Sweden

The inclusion of a Voltaire InfiniBand fabric in the design provides an ultra-fast communication mechanism between the servers and the storage to dramatically speed up the performance of the applications running on the system. As such, it’s anticipated that months of computing time will be reduced to weeks, days or even hours.

Dr. Happy Sithole, Director
Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC), Cape Town, South Africa

We selected Voltaire’s Grid Director™ 4700 40 Gb/s InfiniBand switches because of the high performance and extreme scalability enabled by the switch’s double-density fabric boards. 40 Gb/s bandwidth coupled with Voltaire’s UFM software helps us improve application performance and offer more efficient service delivery in our multi-tenant cloud environment.

Professor Rudolf Lohner
Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT)

We’ve already deployed Voltaire’s 40 Gb/s InfiniBand edge switch and are experiencing improved application performance for our Applications Research and Development cluster, which translates into solving more complex problems in less time.
