Voltaire® Grid Director™ 9288/9096 InfiniBand Switches
Voltaire® Grid Director™ switches enable high performance applications to run on distributed server, storage and network resources. Multiple Grid Director switches can be interconnected to form very large high performance clusters and grids that can grow into the thousands of nodes with "pay as you grow" scalability.
The Voltaire Grid Director™ 9288 switch delivers up to 288 ports of 10 gigabits per second InfiniBand connectivity and up to 96 ports with the Grid Director 9096. The Grid Director™ 9288 and 9096 switches have ultra low latencies with up to 5.76 terabits per second (1.92 Tbps for the 9096) of non-blocking backplane bandwidth to eliminate communication bottlenecks allowing applications to perform at maximum efficiency.

Unmatched Performance
The Grid Director 9288 and 9096 lead the InfiniBand provide 10Gpbs InfiniBand connectivity and a wire-speed non-blocking switch capacity combined with latency of less than 450 nanoseconds and support for a fat tree (CLOS) topology making the Grid Director 9288 and 9096 a highly performing cost effective switch. The Grid Director 9288 and 9096 supports InfiniBand 4X ports operating up to 10 Gbps or InfiniBand 12X (30Gbps) ports.
Enterprise-Class High Availability
All the Grid Director 9288 and 9096 products components are hot-swappable and redundant to allow for the highest availability. Power supplies, as well as fans provide system high availability and serviceability. Redundant management blades maintain synchronization so that a failure can be recovered without the loss of management information or any disruption in port-to-port communication.
SAN/LAN Connectivity for Grid Computing
In addition to high performance InfiniBand switching, the Grid Director 9288 and 9096 offer high-speed intelligent connectivity to storage and IP networks in a single, flexible system. The chassis hosts the Voltaire IO gateways providing seamless connectivity between server clusters, Fibre Channel SANs, NAS appliances, IP SANs and standard Ethernet networks (LANs). Voltaire router blades enable the consolidation of fabrics and dynamic provisioning of resources using embedded high-performance layer 4-7 capabilities such as partitioning, access control, traffic management and storage volume management.
Comprehensive Management
The Grid Director 9288 and 9096 provide comprehensive and powerful management capabilities through GridVision InfiniBand Fabric Management Software. The management capabilities are enabled in the switch independent of any external management platform and can be accessed via CLI, GUI or SNMP managers. GridVision delivers real-time proactive management by providing: aggregated fabric and resource views, access to a suite of fabric and switch diagnostics, the ability to manage fail-over on all levels, and provisioning of InfiniBand fabrics and the attached server, networking and storage resources.
