Endace and Voltaire collaborate to bring passive monitoring to Infiniband
Combination of passive monitoring solution and high performance switching improves operators’ ability to analyze and tune InfiniBand deployments
New York, USA and Auckland, New Zealand, June 10, 2008 – Endace Limited (LSE/AIM: EDA) today announced that it is working with Voltaire Ltd. to deliver passive monitoring capabilities for InfiniBand™-based interconnect solutions in high performance computing (HPC) environments and data centers. Endace is the recognized leader in passive monitoring solutions with the Ninja InfiniBand portfolio providing an exclusive combination of manageable network taps, high speed capture platforms and analytical software. Voltaire develops InfiniBand-based server and storage switching and software solutions that improve application performance and efficiency in data centers.
“Endace is first to market in delivering our passive monitoring solution for InfiniBand infrastructures,” said Steve Gleave, VP of Marketing at Endace. “While InfiniBand is well accepted in high-performance computing environments across multiple industries, there was a strong unmet need for performance monitoring tools – particularly in large, enterprise data centers. Our relationship with Voltaire will help bring Endace’s performance monitoring solutions to these customers worldwide.”
InfiniBand is an industry standard technology for the interconnection of HPC systems and enterprise applications. The combination of high bandwidths at 10 or 20 gigabits/second, low latency and scalability makes it the interconnect of choice to power many of the world’s largest and fastest computer systems and enterprise data centers. Voltaire builds on this technology to deliver director-class (i.e. large scale) switches, routers, adapters and software. Together Endace and Voltaire can now deliver solutions that passively capture traffic on single data rate (10 gigabits/second) and double data rate (20 gigabits/second) links, measure packet delay and jitter and deliver total visibility across the complete network infrastructure, with zero impact on network performance.
“Large enterprises are increasingly turning to Voltaire to help them build out unified fabrics in their data centers,” commented Amir Prescher, VP Business Development at Voltaire. “Working with Endace, we are now able to provide our customers the ability to analyze and tune InfiniBand-based fabrics which is a necessity in the operation of large data centers. The combination of Voltaire’s Grid Director™ switches and software and Endace’s LAN/InfiniBand monitoring portfolio provides an optimum solution in the most demanding of environments.”
Endace products are on display at this week’s SIFMA Technology Exhibit in New York City, booth #3606. Voltaire can be seen at booth #1754.
